Sauna Wood Paneling types are tongue & groove White Aspen, Western Red Cedar or White Cedar. Just frame in the sauna room, add wiring, insulation and foil vapor barrier and you are ready to install sauna wood T&G paneling. Stainless steel nails make sauna wood installation a breeze and will ensure your sauna stays "streak free" for the life of the sauna. The occasional cleaning with Sauna Clean will help keep sauna wood paneling clean and fresh. Complete your sauna wood paneling installation with a trim package of cove molding and door trim in Cedar or Basswood.
Remember to only use natural wood in saunas without staining, sealant coatings for a healthy sauna, as these chemicals break down from sauna heat and can be toxic. The only proven and safe product for sauna rooms and benches is our Sauna Wood Treatment Kit. We recommend white Aspen sauna wood type for traditional steam sauna walls. While Cedar sauna wall paneling is often considered 'traditional', there are benefits of using Aspen wood which has been used for centuries in the Finnish and European tradition of sauna building. If you prefer that famous cedar aromatic scent then you can choose from Red Cedar or White Cedar sauna wood types.
First is should be noted that Aspen tongue and groove sauna wood paneling is non-allergenic, meaning that many more people can enjoy the benefits of sauna, especially in health clubs, hotels, and other commercial saunas. Aspen has almost no odor to irritate sensitive respiratory conditions, as Cedar often can. Aspen wood saunas have a brighter look that tends to stay lighter longer than cedar sauna wood paneling that naturally turns a very dark color. Aspen sauna wood paneling is a sensible alternative to Red Cedar sauna wood paneling. See Sauna Paneling Installation Diagram

Installation: T&G sauna wood paneling can be installed in a vertical or horizontal direction. Vertical is most common, because there is usually little waste for 7' ceiling height. We have several common lengths of sauna paneling in stock: 6', 7', 8' and 10'. In some cases you will need to fasten 2x2" nailers to studs for proper backing for fastening paneling. Be sure to add supports behind paneling where benches and sauna heater will be installed. Our stainless steel finishing nails will not rust, corrode or leave streaks and stains on sauna wood as regular fasteners will. These stainless steel nails require a finish nail gun which makes installation of sauna wood paneling much easier and will drastically save valuable time. Nails will not be visible, as nails go in at an angle on board tongue and then groove from next board will hide previous board nails. Nails can be installed by hand with a hammer, but this will require many more hours to install because a punch is needed to sink nails just below surface and there is a risk of damaging board tongues. See local tool rental shop for nail gun that accepts our sizes of sauna nails before ordering.
The usual size of T&G sauna wood paneling is 3/4" thick x 4" wide in 7' or 8' lengths. Some wood types may be available in 1x6" size. Most paneling orders ship within 2 to 3 days however, depending on orders and supplier availability for special orders it can take up to 2-3 weeks.
